Zain, one of the leading telecom operators in South Sudan, has inaugurated a new tower in Akop, a town in Warrap State. The tower will provide mobile and internet services to the residents of Akop and the surrounding areas, who previously had limited access to communication networks. The launch event was graced by the presence of NCA, the CEO of Zain, the Deputy Governor of Warrap State, the State Minister of ICT, and other dignitaries, as well as members of the local community. Zain’s CEO said that the company is committed to enhancing rural connectivity and bridging the digital divide in South Sudan. He added that the new tower will enable the people of Akop to benefit from Zain’s affordable and reliable services, and to participate in the social and economic development of the country. The Deputy Governor of Warrap State thanked Zain for its investment and contribution to the state’s progress. He also urged the community to make use of the communication services to improve their livelihoods and opportunities. The State Minister of ICT applauded Zain for its efforts to expand its network coverage and quality in South Sudan. He also expressed his hope that Zain will continue to partner with the government and other stakeholders to support the ICT sector and the national vision. The launch of the tower in Akop is part of Zain’s ongoing strategy to increase its footprint and reach in South Sudan, where it currently serves more than 1.6 million customers. Zain aims to connect the unconnected and empower them with communication tools that can enhance their prosperity and trade.
